The two-volume edition was prepared on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sabi (Sava) Stoykov Popovich – Georgi Rakovski (1821–2021), and includes facsimiles of materials from his archive with the necessary notes to them. The present first volume contains documents reflecting the life and his social and literary activities as the revivalist conceived them and described them in his own hand. Also included are letters to him, to various institutions in Russia and Romania, statutes and plans, little-known newspaper issues. The documents are arranged chronologically with the idea that readers will follow the life path of our hero and his growth as a universally recognized national leader.
