The publication summarizes the study of the current state of the soil and soil cover of agricultural lands of the Republic of Belarus according to the types of soil formation, degree of moisture, grain size distribution, cadastral assessment. The genetic characteristics of the physicochemical, agrochemical, water-physical properties, and the mineralogical composition of the soils are presented, taking into account the ranking by the soil-ecological provinces - the northern, central and southern. The results of long-term studies on the characteristics of eroded soils on moraine, loess-like and loess soil-forming rocks are summarized.
