V. S. Bojko’s book reproduces on the basis of a number of regional
(Western Siberian and Urals) archives and private collections of documents,
as well as historical and modern editions, trials and tribulations of the origin
and further development in the territory of Asian Russia (mostly in the Western
Siberia) and Urals Korean communities, that constituted one of the most stable
Asian diasporas in the former Soviet state, and latter – its shatters – post-Soviet
republics, including Russia. The work presents the complex view of diasporisation
and adaptation of Koreans to the conditions of the Western Siberia during the
XX – early XXI and exposes the reasons and circumstances of the later – by the
end of the 1930-ths years – migration Koreans to the Ural. The monographic
research paper contains the characteristic of modern motivations of Koreans of
Asiatic Russia, their attempts to preserve national-cultural identity in the context
of multi-national Russian society on the way of Eurasian synthesis of cultures
and economies.
