The monograph by Sh.Kuanganov presents a detailed research work on the history of the ancient Turkis. While analyzing the authentic ancient-runic texts and legends, the author sheds light upon the origin of the ancient Turkic tribes. On the basis of the fundamental study of macro- and microtoponyms, hydrotoponyms and ethnotoponyms the places of settlements and migration of the tribes are specified. The process of ethnogenesis of the Turkis and other peoples is studied, as well. The book also contains new information on the history of the Kazakh Khanate, reveals its relations with the adjacent states, and shows the formation of the Kazak zhuzes.
