The book briefly describes the stylistic evolution of Soviet architecture in Sverdlovsk in the post-constructivist (transitional) period of the mid-1930s from the avant-garde through rational art deco to Stalinist neoclassicism. Using examples of residential and public architecture of those years, it is shown that in a short period of about five years (1934-1938) in the city, Sverdlovsk architects completed and implemented dozens of building projects in a specific post-avant-garde style, not similar to either the culture of the outgoing avant-garde or emerging neoclassicism. For the first time, identified archival information about the features of the development of the new Soviet style by the leading architectural and design organizations of the city is presented.
