The book traces the life and creative activity of the greatest Russian poetess Anna Akhmatova. She wrote in the style of acmeism. Three topics characterized her poetry: love, death and war. In the spirit of acmeism she used her poetry to express her feelings about being in love and her feelings about experiences during wartime.
