Marek Edelman is the head of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising in 1943. This book is about life in the ghetto. The author tells how “there in inhumane conditions, people were able to experience great moments”. Edelman believes that it is necessary, following the commandments of the Old Testament, to teach (especially the youth) that “evil is evil, hate is evil, and love is duty." The book includes a preface by renowned Polish writer Jacek Bohenski, Edelman’s speech at the conference “Polish memory - Jewish memory” in June, 1995 and a list of people mentioned in the book with a short biographical note about each of them.
