Alexander Nikolaevich Aksakov (1832–1903) was a Russian nobleman from the Aksakov family – son of Nikolai Timofeevich and nephew of Sergei Timofeevich Aksakov; civil servant, actual state councilor; translator, publisher, editor, spiritualist (promoter of spiritualism and mediumship, one of the founders of the scientific study of parapsychic phenomena), public figure, publicist, philanthropist and traveler; spoke several foreign languages, was knowledgeable in theology and philosophy, and was able to penetrate the deep mysteries of human existence, becoming one of the founders of parapsychology.
