There is every reason to believe that Pahlavi literature, in all branches of knowledge, had come into existence before the end of the sixth century. Pahlavi literature may be divided into three classes. First, Pahlavi translation of Avesta texts, intermingled with Pahlavi commentaries. Second, purely Pahlavi texts on religious subjects, or connected with religion. Third, Pahlavi texts on miscellaneous subjects not connected with religion.
