Slovak journalist Veronika Cosculluela invites us to an unusual trip behind the bars of Slovak prisons. Through the stories of prisoners, guards, a judge or a doctor, we get into rooms that people outside the system do not have access to. It is a closed world, but it concerns a lot of people - the Prison and Justice Guard Corps employs around eight thousand people, there are around ten thousand behind bars, four hundred of them are released every month, and that's not even counting the families who are deeply affected by life behind bars. At most, prisoners are only mentioned in the media at Christmas or when a scandal or an escape is uncovered. There are many questions that we would like to know the answers to: what is life like for families who have a relative in prison? How do they cope in their environment - at work, in the city, in the village? What is life like for former prisoners in Slovakia? What chance do they have to reintegrate into society? Who are we putting behind bars and who are the people who supervise them?
